Microsoft Outlook 2007 Managed Exchange Hosting configuration

Setting Up Outlook 2007 on Windows XP to connect to our Managed Exchange service:

To Download the automatic configurer click here, otherwise for manual setup instructions, please refer to the below information.

  1. Click Start > Control Panel
  2. Click the: Mail button:
  3. Click the E-Mail Accounts button:
  4. Select New:
  5. Select Microsoft Exchange, POP3, IMAP or HTTP then proceed by clicking Next.
  6. Next, select Manually Configure Server type followed by clicking Next
  7. Next select Microsoft Exchange from the list of available options then click Next
  8. Next specify: sg1rd3xvs021.red003.local as the Server Name” and make sure the “Use Cached Exchange mode
    box is ticked. In addition to this type your username (e.g. john) in the User name Box.
  9. After you have completed this click the “More Settings” button. If you get any prompts appearing that say “Outlook is unable to find
    the server at this stage, then simply click Cancel (as we have to make further modifications).
  10. Type 60 in the box for “Settings until Server Connection Timeout. Then click the “Connection” tab
  11. Once you have clicked the “Connection” tab, tick the box that says “Connect to Microsoft Exchange
    using HTTP, then click the “Exchange Proxy Settings” button:
  12. Once in the Proxy settings box enter the following information:
  13. URL: red003.mail.apac.microsoftonline.com
  14. Tick the “Only connect to proxy servers that have this principal name in their certificate” box
  15. Then type: msstd:*.mail.apac.microsoftonline.com
  16. Tick the top box “On fast networks, connect using HTTP first, then connect using TCP/IP
  17. Under Proxy authentication settings drop down the box to select “NTLM Authentication”
  18. Once you’ve completed that hit OK to get out of it.
  19. Then press OK to go back to the previous dialog box:
  20. Once again click OK to return to the previous settings form:
  21. Click Next, at this stage you may be prompted to enter your username & password. These are simply your email address & password issued by the support department.
  22. After inputting your password you will see the following dialog box appear, simply click Next to continue:
  23. Next if you can see the Congratulations screen your all done!
  24. Next open Microsoft Outlook. Initially you will be prompted for a Profile name. Here you can insert whatever you want (e.g. John’s email)
  25. Then click OK.

At this stage Outlook will then proceed to sync your desktop client with the Exchange server, depending how many emails you have stored on there, this may take some time.

You’ll also notice you have 2 lots of personal folders. One will be for your exchange server (which is where your new emails will go) and the other one will be for your old emails. If you want to
add these to the Exchange server it’s just a matter of dragging the folder into the Exchange profile (you’ll see it on the left side in Outlook).
